Lake Tahoe Music Festival

Aug 22, Thursday 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm

We’re excited to offer the lawn at the West Shore Cafe & Inn as an intimate venue for the Lake Tahoe Music Festival’s 26-piece Academy Orchestra. Join us for an evening on the lake complimented by grand views, live music, and great company.

Maestro Timm Rolek will lead the Academy Orchestra in Wild and Wonderful – a Grab Bag from Around the World. Inspired by Mendelssohn’s journey to Scotland, the Hebrides Overture was inspired by a basalt sea cave, accessible only from a tempestuous ocean. From France, Charles Gounod wrote the Petite Symphonie, a simple, lyrical composition featuring a flute and wind ensemble. Norway’s favorite son Johan Svendsen created the String Octet as a young man in Christiana, producing a fresh and innovative use of Nordic melody. From Truckee, California, David Nelson re-imagines Handel in his original composition, Messiah Mash-up, featuring Malcolm MacKenzie and Joseph Brown – and the Trumpet Shall Sound (and the baritone sing) in a way that Handel never imagined! The evening will end with a treat from Montreal, Maxim Goulet’s Chocolats Symphonique.

In a change from years past, this will be a dinner concert, served picnic style. Your ticket includes the concert, dinner created by West Shore Café Executive Chef Robb Wyss, and a little chocolate for dessert! Beverages are available for purchase.

Tickets: $70
